Who is Dr. Dyess?
This year marks my 13th year of teaching, and I'm just as excited as
I was when I started my first year. A Valdosta native, I graduated
from Open Bible in 1999, then received my Bachelor's from
Valdosta State in 2004. I worked for four years at Hahira Middle
as an English teacher. During that time, I received my gifted
endorsement and began working on my Master's through
Penn State. When Pine Grove Middle opened up in 2009,
I moved from HMS to become the gifted teacher. I completed my
Master's degree in 2010 and began working on my doctoral degree
through Valdosta State in 2012. I completed my doctoral
journey in May of 2016.
My husband, Lee Dyess, and I have two furbabies, and when I'm not teaching, or working on lesson plans, you can find me gardening, reading, crafting, or playing with the pups. I have a passion for reading fantasy and science fiction, and I love making art out of unusual objects. I also create altered book art such as book origami and book-page wreaths. I am a self-admitting Pinterest addict, and I'm one of those who actually follows through with trying some of the projects and recipes I pin.
